Overcome the difficulties you may face with Coronavirus testing of visitors to your care homes. We can provide you with testing pods (adapted from our visitor pods) allowing visitors to be safely tested within the grounds of your care home and ensure that safety is maintained at all times.
For the past nine months of the Coronavirus pandemic, our visitor pods have been helping care homes and hospital ward sites across the UK to facilitate visits to residents from their families and friends. The pods are proving to be extremely beneficial as we receive regular requests for them every week and we are proud to have been able to help reunite thousands of families around the country during this difficult time.
With the Prime Minister’s recent announcement that residents can now experience indoor visits from one, named individual (introduced on 8th March), we have been able to adapt the visitor pods to be used as testing facilities in the grounds of care homes. This is because as well as wearing full PPE, each visitor who enters the care home is required to be tested for COVID-19 before they can enter.
To allow lateral flow testing to be completed safely, our 3m x 2m dual room compact pods have been modified to include a small, infection control hatch within the full-length partition. This means that swab samples can be passed safely between a care home test operative and a visitor. Also, there is the added benefit of being in separate rooms while the testing process is being carried out.
One of our recent clients, Hampshire City Council, has committed to 14 of our compact visiting pods to be used only for lateral flow testing of visitors when they arrive at some of their adult care facilities across the country. Being able to give residents the opportunity to have a family member or friend visit them is extremely important for their mental wellbeing and we are delighted that our pods can help make that happen.
Our compact testing pods are suitable for smaller external spaces, which are proving to be ideal for care homes that have limited indoor space to conduct their visitor testing. Also, they offer peace of mind and reassurance by ensuring visitors are tested in a completely separate area before they enter the care home.

Whether you are looking to purchase or hire, our testing pods are an investment in the wellbeing of the residents in your care. The government has extended the Adult Social Care Infection Control Fund until March of this year, with an extra £546 million of funding in place to reduce the rate of coronavirus transmission within, and between, care settings.
There is therefore a very real possibility of receiving a share of the funding that could be put towards the purchase of testing pods. If this sounds like a good solution to your visitor difficulties at present, contact us at Showplace today and help give the residents in your care the ability to safely see their friends and family again as soon as possible.
