Showplace is looking to recruit a project manager as the business continues to grow.
The role consists of managing a variety of different projects and clients, from exhibition trailer roadshow programmes to indoor and outdoor exhibition stand builds and Christmas ice rinks, whilst embracing our company values, which are at the heart of all we do.
Working within the projects team, the role of the project manager will be to oversee all the aspects of a project or client’s requirements from handover to completion.
The project manager will liaise with the three operational departments (structures, exhibition trailers, interiors) and the operations manager to ensure the necessary equipment, people and logistics are in place.
The project manager will liaise directly with clients on their given projects and be expected to attend sites as required to provide support to operational teams, and to hand over jobs to our clients.
Skills and Experience
- The successful candidate will have previous experience or knowledge of the exhibition/events sector.
- Candidates must possess strong organisation skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask and the confidence to make decisions.
- Marketing and social media experience is desirable.
- A full driving licence is required.
Location:
Midlands based with frequent UK and occasional European work.Occasional stays away from base should be expected as well as some weekend work.
Project Manager
SpecificationOffice/home and site based.
Given the industry sectors in which Showplace operates, some weekend and bank holiday working is required. Time off in lieu is given for such work.
Current industry sector is unimportant, but the successful candidate must have experience of events or exhibitions and project management.
Responsibilities
- Budget control on events. This person will be responsible for the control of spending on their allocated events.
- Sub-contractor and labour management on projects.
- Involved with projects from their inception to completion; meeting clients, finding solutions to fit their needs and budgets, in collaboration with senior management.
- Accurate and detailed costing of jobs – training will be given.
- Health and safety – a working knowledge of industry health and safety best practice is required. Responsibility for this on allocated projects rests with the project manager.
- Full project responsibility – although initial supervision will be given, this person will need to be able to work alone and take full responsibility for projects.
- Liaison with caterers – from time to time we use external caterers, which will require assessment of power needs, space requirements and health and safety issues.
Person Specification
- This is a hands-on role requiring both on site and office work.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential for this role.
- Good numeracy and literacy are vital.
- Experience in events or exhibitions is essential.
- Must be comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be computer literate with experience of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Good process skills and self-motivation – this person needs to be a driver of information not just a recipient.
- Marketing and social media experience is desirable.
- Experience of working on site is desirable.
- Driving licence is essential.
