For just over a week now, Ladydale Care Home has been able to facilitate family visits for residents, thanks to the installation of one of our care home visiting pods. Situated in an attractive residential area, close to the centre of Leek in Staffordshire, Ladydale is a well-established home within the Pearlcare Group, providing high quality, short and long-term residential care for the elderly.
Due to the impact of Covid-19, Ladydale was unable to welcome visitors to their premises for many months, which was a huge concern for the staff.
Sophie Willis-Dixon, registered care manager of Ladydale, commented, “We were getting worried about our residents not seeing their families. We know that Covid is very serious, especially to the elderly and the vulnerable, but it has been such a long time for the residents not seeing their loved ones. We were concerned about their mental health and that is just as important!”
Searching for a Covid safe solution to enable the residents to experience face to face contact with their families again, Ladydale came across Showplace Ltd and our range of visiting pods for care homes. Opting for one of our 3m x 2m compact outdoor pods, Ladydale chose a striking tension graphic interior to achieve a bright and cheery environment.
Suitable for small outdoor spaces, our care home visiting pods provide care homes with a dual room meeting area where residents and visitors are separated by a full height glass dividing wall, which creates an air-tight environment. Each room has its own lockable door and wheelchair ramps are provided. Visitor pods are installed with non-slip wood vinyl flooring and all surfaces are wipe/spray clean so they are easy to sanitise between visits. Plug in lighting and an electrical socket are supplied, and they can also be heated which is perfect as we navigate our way through the colder months!
Commenting on the installation, Sophie said, “The team that came to install the pod were absolutely fantastic. The job was spot on and they paid attention to the smallest detail; I was really impressed! We have had quite a few visits already and it has been amazing. Relatives and residents have been crying with joy at finally being able to see each other and it’s been so heart warming to see. I can see a massive difference in the residents’ wellbeing since the visits. A dip in mental and emotional wellbeing can eventually impact on a person’s physical health and it was a worry that this was slowly starting to happen for some people. But the pod is perfect and all credit to those who came up with the idea. Everyone so far has loved their visits!”
Commenting on the initial success of Ladydale’s visitor pod, Rob Goodman, Managing Director of Showplace Ltd, said, “I am delighted that in such a short space of time, Ladydale’s visitor pod is having a really positive impact on the lives, wellbeing and happiness of so many. I hope that the residents and their families continue to enjoy their face-to-face visits during these difficult times.”
